inexpensive study abroad?
oh uhm gee asked the question:
I found a study abroad for $12,000 for one year in China. It included (2) round trip airfares from the USA to China
~Tuition & fees for 15 credit hours per semester (30 total)
~Room, board, & books
~Expenses for eight (8) major field trips (http://www.fhsu.edu/exchange/intlxchangeyrsias.shtml)
I am looking for something like that. $6,000 per semester including everything.Must be longer than just the summer. Must accept Pell grant.
I am very interested in photography. But anything artsy may interest me. And I have already googled alot.
I don’t think the $12k is too much, I am just not interested in this particular study abroad. I think the price and amount of credits you earn is perfect. Plus the airfare is included.
I do plan on getting scholarships and grants. Although the better the price the more likely I am to come up with funds.
regards
Can you really get paid to take surveys with real money?

How to I convince my parents to let me study abroad?
amy asked the question:
First off, you need to know my parents are very fact oriented, it is just a matter of pushing the facts that benefit the end result without letting them step in.
I am a aspiring business major and came across an amazing opportunity. It is a mini version of a study abroad program. It is about three weeks in Ireland over the summer. It is worth five credits towards my upper division business electives. We would be touring Ireland, visiting all of the major tourist attractions, kissing the blarney stone, going on a pub crawl, and so much more. We would also have meetings with international business executives. Not to mention that the professor leading this trip could be a great source of letters of recommendation and advise. Everyone that I have talked to says they had an amazing experience. The only caveat is that it cost around 3500 not including airfare which is another 1000 at least.
I don’t make nearly enough money at my summer job, and my parents are fairly well off, so the money is not an issue, I just have to convince them that this is something that they want for me. Please help!

Can someone offer me advice about how to afford a trip?
CaptainGuineaPig asked the question:
Hi,
I want to make it clear that I’m not asking for money, but I would like to hear from anyone who can offer some helpful advice. I got accepted for a study abroad program in Europe, but the trouble is that I’ve looked into it and there are no loans or scholarships available.
I really have my heart set on going. I was planning on going this November but I am going to ask them if I can change my dates and go in March, if I can’t get the money in time.
I’m freaking out because this has been my dream since I was small and I have waited all my life to go. I work full-time, but only earn about $1,200 a month right now, and I’ve applied for part-time jobs left and right, but I haven’t had any luck.
I would like to hear from anyone who has been in a similar situation, but found a way to get the money… what I really need are some ideas.
What are some ideas for ways that I can get the money?
This program will help me to get a lucrative job, once I finish and have the credential, but right now I’m not qualified for a good job and I’m so sick of struggling. I think I just need some words of comfort.
What I’m trying to say, has anyone else ever heard of someone who struggled, like me, but found a way to afford to travel??? I will be so gratfeul for ideas!
I can’t postpone my trip any later than March… or I can’t go. ![]()
Thanks!
All awesome answers, u are very helpful and I have read every one… let me think about them, though. They are all great… thank you

Are there any int’l summer study abroad programs for?
моя звезда asked the question:
Are there any summer study abroad programs for High School students under 18? I went to goabroad.com, but that seems to be only for college students.
By the way, the country I’d want to go to is Spanish-speaking.
(I mean, yes, I could take a day trip down to Mexico because of where I live, but I’d rather not :P)

I do have a B.A. in French Literature. How did your friend find a job? What qualifications did she have? Did she have to move across the country for the job? I would be willing to work with worldwide programs.

How to keep in contact with someone studying abroad?
bronzey214 asked the question:
Hi, my best friend will be studying abroad in France next semester (her 2nd semester of her junior year). I want to keep in contact with her over the course of her trip and also kind of make it fun for her by sending her things from home (little things). Does anybody have any ideas? I want to let her know that she’s missed without really overbearing on her really awesome cultural experience.

Study abroad in ITALY, fashion programs?
Dear Prudence asked the question:
Hi guys, Hopefully I will get at least a little bit of info..
anyways, I’m really interested in studying abroad in italy, I want to take a fashion course, maybe for three months, I don’t want something that is only like 4 weeks, b/c I not only want to study but I want to learn about Italian experience, you know get the most out of the trip!!!
I already have my fashion diploma, and I am currently doing graphic design..
I check in the internet, but I mean I really don’t trust some of the sites, they could easily be telling you they are the best school in italy, when they could be the crappiest.. If someone out there either lived in italy, or is from Italy and knows about good arts schools.. could you please let me know the names???
I will really appreciated..
thank you!

SBreC asked the question:
im 15. this is for an academic year [ august-june] in paris, france .
it cost 9,850.
this includes… :
Round-trip airfare from an Intrax hub city (excluding US domestic flights, taxes & fuel surcharges)

and i may have to pay for these [ it depends on acceptance and where you live ] :
Personal expenses (e.g., toiletries, clothing, internet, calling card, activities)
School expenses (e.g., uniform [if necessary], lunches [depending on program], supplies, bus pass)
Passport and visa application fees, as determined by destination country
i think it seems worth it , but i want a second opinion i dont want to ask my mom and have her think its outrages .
its less than 900 dollars a month and i have the experience of living in france for close to a year. you dont have to pay it in full you pay 500 when your accepted, 2000 15 days after ,and then full by may . i can also possibly get a scholarship for 1,000. do you think i should ask ?
